Bath Fringe as-it-now-is steps into its second decade (and the 21st year of there being a Bath
Fringe at all) and it feels like we're moving up a gear! We hope you'll see that reflected in this year's programme.
One Step Beyond means we have settled on some major events into which we can concentrate extra effort and extra fun. It also means that some established cornerstone events (like The Children's Arts Festival) are getting bigger. We're even reviving some events we used to do (Carnival!) in the past and really wanted to have a crack at again. Some old favourites are back as ever, others have been transformed, its in the nature of Fringe to do so, and we're going to try hard to do at least some things that you wouldn't have expected at all. If you don't think we achieved that, use this site to tell us all about it and we'll be able to do better again next year. One Step beyond again.
Bath Fringe connects upwards of 150 events over 17 days all over the city of Bath, sometimes in places you really wouldn't have thought of. We have as many art forms, performing arts, visual arts, participatory arts, as we can think of - and some that don't have names yet. We like to feature national and international cult names as well as up-and-coming artists and performers that we've spotted, as well as the very best of the most ambitious local groups individuals and companies showing you what they do all year. It's a celebration of Bath as well as in Bath, the city as well as everything else is an excellent backdrop and frame for arts of all sorts, and has been as long as it has been here (see the history pages).
We've been able to take One Step Beyond with generous help from our new major sponsor, Landscape Estates, with additional support from Arts & Business, and (for those that understand the details) because we have gone on to a new level in our agreement with B&NES Council, a gesture of support and taking-us-seriously from them which we very much appreciate. Another One Step Beyond.
and the next One Step Beyond is...
you...
steppin' forward, steppin' out...
See you at something soon!

CANCELLED SHOW
Saturday 25th May
Skanga Night / Manesseh Sound System
This event has had to be cancelled because of noise issues. Comfy old buildings like the Palais and massive basslines don't mix as well as we'd all like. Keep your eyes open for more Skanga nights in the future at another Bath venue... we hope...
Added to the Slumber Party / Mooz gig on Thu 30th May:

Those insatiable fiends at the Purr Club can't stop adding bands to their two bills in the festival. See the listings for more about Candyrag and Black Neilson.
