The Fringe Clubs
What do you do when you've just seen one of the best, funniest, most inspiring, most devastating, most shocking shows / bands / naked flower arrangers of your life? ...But of course... You go see another one.
That's what we do in Fringe time, anyway. Or we go somewhere convivial to... ahem... talk about the show. Not infrequently the two can happen in the same place. The Fringe Club experience is an essential part of the festival (after all, you don't get the chance any other time of the year) - and you don't even have to do it till dawn - if you're lucky.
So much so, in fact, that this year we have no fewer than THREE fringe late-night venues (plus an early evening one, Green Park Station, see elsewhere on this page) for you to extend your conviviality, revelry and stunning intellectual repartee deep into the evening. This is without counting Fringe venues (Ring O'Bells, Moles, etc.) who will be running late on Fringe shows already.
Our own Fringe ClubTM is at Bonghy-Bo, just off Upper Borough Walls, from 9pm to 1am every night. It's the Green Room, it's the place to be if you want to meet the performers or buy the harassed Fringe workers a drink, suss out what's happening tomorrow, spread vicious rumours about what's not happening tomorrow, or snarf up cocktails in a bid to banish tomorrow altogether. There will be entertainment, including some gently deranged DJ work and other events of a less usual nature, a sketch plan of which follows. Caveat: It is our mission to be unpredictable.

The Porter Cellar, home of hundreds of up-and-coming bands and great comedy, are extending their activities on into the night for the Fringe period, reaching into cabaret, performance, magic, and outright madness every night of the week. And it's open till 2 - you could even make it to both clubs if you're hardcore enough. See the listings for details of 17 most unusual nights out - if you thought you knew the Porter, think again. And make sure you're down for Rock Karaoke, that already promises to be one of the most delirious highlights of the fortnight.
But it doesn't stop there. Our old friends at Window Arts Centre have a chill-out space in the bar downstairs (as well as a truly ace café) which should be open after shows (but not every night, see listings for when there's a show on). And if you want a club atmosphere early in the evening there's always Green Park, especially on Saturdays, the SpiegelPalace during the day, Windows Café during the day, you know there's barely any need for you to be at home at all...
Fringe at Green Park
One of the innovations we were most pleased with last year was the series of early evening gigs at Green Park Station. So much so that we've decided to do even more of them this year. From 5pm-7pm every Saturday (and also on the opening Friday) you can start your Fringe evening early with a great street band or acoustic act, giving you plenty of time to get to another show later, have dinner, do what you please. It's all free courtesy of Green Park Brasserie, who will of course be overjoyed to sell you a drink on their terrace, or something to eat for that matter.

Saturday 31st - Bedlam at Green Park
