Bath Fringe Festival 2005
Friday 27th May - Sunday 12th June 2005

Welcome to Bath Fringe 2005
In its 25th year and with over 170 events in 40+ venues (and more being added!) Bath Fringe can claim to be the oldest continually running independent Fringe Festival in England, and one of the largest by anyone's standards.
With the links at the top of the page you can browse the Complete Programme, use the search facility to narrow things down to a particular day or type of event, Quick Event Search (name or keyword) can take you straight there if you know what you're looking for.
If you want a printed programme send an A4 sae with a 47p stamp to the address below and we'll send you one straight back - programmes can also be found at venues around Bath, the Box Office, Bath Tourist Information..
Of you want to know more about the Fringe's Visual Art programme (even more venues and artists!) click through to their site here.

But while we have your attention, we just can't resist telling you about a few of the highlights.

Fabulous Spiegeltent
Yes, we've got a Spiegeltent again – a different one to that two years ago, but just as old, beautiful, and, well, unique. Among the acts you'll be able to see on successive evenings are:
Oojami, Moussa Kouyate & Kevin Brown, Mabulu, John Otway, Leon Hunt & Daily Planet, Noel Britten, Boothby Graffoe, Lo'jo, Ska Cubano, Mike Sanchez Band, Tina C, Slaughterhouse Live... and plenty more. Every afternoon, courtesy of sponsors Wessex Water, there are free music events and a full weekday programme of kids events (for Fringe Junior see also “Fringe at the Farm”).

Bedlam Fair
The Fringe's Street Arts weekend has more events than ever before, including Paradise Regained, an upgrade of last year's truly heavenly Paradise Garden show and a serious move back into the centre of town on Saturday afternoon (both June 4th), and an outdoor installation theatre piece, Full Circle, to close the event – not to mention the return of Bedlam Cabaret (Sunday 5th). And there's an opening event in Green Park Station (Friday 3rd) and a Lazy Sunday Afternoon in Sydney Gardens. While we're mentioning free, open-air and Green Park, don't forget free music events there every Friday including the magnificent Jaipur Kawa Brass Band all the way from Rajasthan, the Wheel Thing pedal-power jamboree and the “let's do the show right here” special that is The Live 6X Show, taking the show to the people in a way no other event does.

Fringe Clubs
This year's new club is The Kitten Klub, run by Bath's most notorious Party Animals Pussyfoot at Green Park Tavern. Every night they'll be there to take you one step beyond into a variety of themed environments with some major attractions on the entertainment front. Be aware that Kitten Klub is a full evening's entertainment from about 8pm, and the reputation of Pussyfoot such that many of these nights risk selling out – you might just have to get down there early to be sure of getting in!
Also on the late night lineup there's the reliably rammed Porter Cellar Bar doing great bands and all sorts of entertainers deep into the night every night – there are also some special Fringe shows at Moles Club next door.

Stage Struck
There's a full programme of Fringe Theatre at the bijou Rondo and a scattering of other venues for one-offs, including Movement Theatre and Dance at Bath University ICIA. Our comedy programme is at its strongest level for many years, including appearances from:
Marcus Brigstocke, Boothby Graffoe, Valentine Flyguy, John Otway, Nick Wilty, Tina C, Marty Wilson, Sarah Kendall, Miranda Hart, Milton Jones, Jason Whitehead, Slaughterhouse Lounge, Noel Britten ...and the Music programme brings more bands to more Bath venues than any other time of the year. And more!

But the best of the Fringe is in the details, the curious one-off shows that only arise in a Fringe. Don't leave this site without checking out a few of those, too – try The White Wine Art Trail, The Fringe Film Challenge, Bath Community Culture Company Experiment, The Smarme's Arms or Your Dad.

Whether you want more of what you like, or something you've never seen before, we've got something for you – get searching and see you there!

Elsewhere on this site you can find out more about being involved in the festival or information if you're already doing something; you can post us a comment on our Message Board, tell us a joke, ask a question, tell us what you thought about a show; find out more about everything from the history of the festival to getting around Bath; or sign onto our EMailing list for regular updates (including warnings about changed, cancelled or sold-out shows – that's useful!

Bath Fringe lives at admin@bathfringe.co.uk or 103 Walcot Street, Bath, Somerset, BA1 5BW.

STOP PRESS:

WE MADE IT!
See you next year!
Fringe 2006 runs from Friday May 26 to Sunday June 11th

Star Walk 2 - Life - postponed till after Fringe
Due to problems with the production, 'Life' has been postponed (June 1-5). No, that's not as serious as it sounds.
We're sure they'll be back with something else next year.
If you want to find out when they are doing it call them on 01225 442863 or look at www.b3c.info

KITTEN KLUB WEBSITE NOW AVAILABLE
Those rootin' tootin' types at this year's new Late Night Lineup, the Kitten Klub, have got their complete lineup up on their own website, complete with slinky graphics & sly humour. Point your browser at www.pussyfootkittenclub.com.
You especially need to go there for the full details of their reservation possibilities (this is one club night you don't want to be out in the cold from, not dressed like THAT!) and how to book a Rickshaw to deliver you door to door (or from whatever event you were just at).
You also need to look at the site (or its kissing cousin www.pussyfootclub.co.uk) for details of their all-consuming FINAL PARTY - and to book a ticket, of course.

Fringe Film Challenge
The second huge Suited & Booted Fringe Film Challenge was launched at The Walcot Writzy @ The Bell on Wed 25th May at 8pm

Enrol before 1st June 2005

Fitkin's Ring Cycle - Sunday 5th June - CANCELLED
Yes it's the first cancelled event of this year, but it's NOT one of ours: the International Music Festival have cancelled their Festival Finale on June 5th (also listed in our programme). But you could still come to the two Bedlam Fair closing events, Red Earth - Full Circle and Bedlam Cabaret.

Music at bedlam fair
In the various print programmes it says we're putting on Los Albertos twice over Bedlam weekend. Unfortunately this is no longer the case, they were double-booked & it's more likely to have been our fault than theirs.
Apologies for that to Albertos fans and to them.
Music for bedlam events is now:
Friday evening: DrevA, folk music from Russia, and Sleepy Ed Hicks, a banjo bloke from Bristol.
Sunday afternoon AND cabaret in the evening: DrevA, and The Ing Ongs, a loopy street band led by Chris from Roxy's Toolbox

Lo'Jo refunds
Anyone who didn't get a refund on the night for their Lo'Jo tickets send us the tickets & your address (see contacts page) & we'll send you a cheque.
