One of our favourite festivals in the whole world happens every year in Chalon-sur-Saône, France.
It's best for street performance and outdoor theatre, very odd things happen in tents and bars too, and there are great bands as well.
Check out www.chalondanslarue.com before July.

Another very ace street festival (and great mates):
Artisti In Piazza, Pennabilli www.artistiinpiazza.com

The compiler of this site is also a great fan of and regular performer at Ferrara Buskers Festival
www.ferrarabuskers.com

Other festivals in Bath:
Bath Film Festival: www.bathfilmfestival.org.uk
Bath Festivals Trust (runs some other festivals including a big mostly classical music one at the same time as ours):
www.bathfestivals.org.uk

Good places to go if you run an event yourselves and want street acts and bands and festival equipment and...

All the best outdoor arts events are members of the Independent Street Arts Network:
www.streetartsnetwork.org.uk - they have a calendar of major events too.

Bath doesn't go quiet when the festival isn't on - look at:

Invention Studio
The Rondo Theatre
Moles & the Porter Cellar
