*Cancelled Sorry!* The Milestone Theatre Company Peter Shaffer's Five Finger ExerciseThe recently formed Milestone Theatre Company bring you Peter Shaffer's 'Five Finger Exercise'; a dark comedy exploring the difficulties faced in a family home in 1958 during the adolescence and enlightenment of the growing children. The action unfolds in a country cottage bought to reunite the family. Walter, a young German escaping the shadows of his Nazi upbringing, joins the family as a tutor. His character acts as a catalyst, precipitating the family's fragmentation, ultimately leading to the play's dramatic conclusion. The Kingswood Theatre 7.30pm |

A Case of Cannabiswith Howard Marks Mr Establishment is on trial. The Charge is " Cannabis is outlawed without just cause". You, the audience is the jury. Prosecuting attorneys are author / ex-drugs smuggler Howard Marks and local councillor, Keith Lunt. Major Hardline defends the motion. Since the Home Office, the police and local magistrates all declined to take part in a serious debate, tonight is being played for laughs. The Old Court Room, The Guildhall

Former Public Enemy Number One; sentenced to 25 years in Terre Haute
Penitentiary, Indiana, for smuggling Marijuana in consignments as big as 50 tons;
contributor to unreconstructed lads' bible 'Loaded'... Curiously the organisers of this
event could find no equivalent pillar of the community prepared to stand on stage with
Howard and debate the serious question of Legalising Cannabis in a serious fashion. We can
only suppose they felt they weren't good-looking enough.Responses in the negative from
Police, Magistrates, The Home Office and local MPs/MEPs, all put the responsibility for
defending the law in public onto other shoulders and none could be found broad or
responsible enough. Perhaps they're all, ah, waiting to see how it crumbles. Since the
intention of the event was a serious one, they'd still like to try and involve people's
real-life experiences and opinions, pro- and anti-... particularly, in this case, the
latter. If there's an aspect of the issue that you'd like to hear discussed, please write
and tell us about it: address letters to 'A Case of Cannabis' c/o Bath Fringe Office by May 22. |

Bedlam CabaretThe traditional cabaret highlight of the festival is this Friday night special, back under canvas in the park where it's happiest. A selection of the most lunatic performers on and off the streets will be running around like voodoo chickens in their efforts to entertain you - audacious acts, outrage, danger, knuckle-near humour, all rounded off with a set from one of the country's best street bands. Names withheld to protect the innocent, but if they're elsewhere this weekend chances are they'll be here tonight. Kaboodle Cabaret Tent, |
