You can be famous for 15 minutes, surely, and you can also be Fringe for
15 minutes (or maybe two hours with an interval). Fireraisers Theatre are one of the
companies stretching the envelope of what you can do with theatre in the post-modernist
multimedia world, and it's only a matter of time (15 minutes?) before they join the select
coterie of those who have taken their art from the Fringes to the mainstream. With a
"maim to get a ticket" 5-star review from The Scotsman for the debut of this
show at Edinburgh last year, they'll be on the South Bank before you can say
"Complicité" 'Andy & Edie' is the auditors' report of what really went on in Andy Warhol's Factory. Andy might just have been the world's first post-modernist (or are the rest of them just post-Warhol?) and that makes Edie Sedgewick the first true contemporary Superstar - complete with the true blue pedigree, pre-Green Lib mink, limo, anorexia & amphetamine habit. You've heard the outside of the legend, you've heard about the parties where the Velvets played all night, didn't you always expect there was a lot more to be told? Your worst suspicions will come true in this show. |
